Does chiropractic manipulative treatment lower healthcare costs among multiple-comorbid Medicare beneficiaries with an episode of chronic low back pain? A study of Medicare fee-for-service reimbursements reviewed over 70,000 multiple-comorbid patients age 66 and older with chronic low back pain episodes using chiropractic manipulative treatment alone, chiropractic manipulative treatment followed or preceded by conventional medical care, or conventional medical care alone.
Medicare reimbursements during the chronic low back pain treatment episode were lowest for patients who used chiropractic manipulative treatment alone.
